Andhracafe.com- The Vijayawada police have decided to use the SMS mode to alert commuters in the event of a traffic jam. The cops’ will send SMS messages to alert the commuters and also suggest alternative routes.

The Vijayawada city police have put in place a Public Interest Information Broadcasting System (PIBS) in place for flashing alerts on cellular phones in times of emergencies and distress.

The private cellular service providers like Hutch, Tata Indicom, AirTel and Reliance have forward to extend the service free of cost. The state owned BSNL is yet to respond to the request.
